Managing Director, Interpreter & Translator

Max is responsible for business affairs, client liaison, accounts management, quality assurance management and selecting interpreters and translators.
Max is one of the founders of Language Professionals and was instrumental in turning the initial concept into a reality. Max has been involved in the language profession for over fourteen years and has in-depth knowledge of the industry. He is a member of the A.I.I.C. (International Association of Conference Interpreters), the only world-wide association of  professional conference interpreters and has extensive experience as a German translator and interpreter.
Max also has four years' experience as a contract subtitler for SBS Television. He is a former Chairman, member examiner and German language panel member of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Max is also a founding member and former Chairman of the NSW branch of AUSIT (Australian Institute of Interpreters & Translators). Max's language ability and experience are complemented by previous professional experience in sales, teaching and nursing.
Max is originally from Witten, Germany.

Françoise looks after the desktop publishing department, translations and client liaison. She is also a highly qualified translator and handles a number of in-house French<>English translations.
Françoise first became involved in the language profession when she left her native Brittany to work as a French teacher in the UK and Australia. Her language skills were called upon to interpret and translate on numerous occasions in Melbourne. Françoise relocated to Sydney in 1991 after being recruited by SBS Television as a full-time French subtitler and casual radio broadcaster. Françoise was one of the two main French translators and editors of the documentation for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Bid and she has been translating countless reports and publications in the lead-up to the Games. In 1996 she left SBS and was recruited to oversee the coordination of Language Professionals.

Assistant Manager
The Assistant Manager, Julian Nikakis, is responsible for project bookings, administration and Quality Assurance facilitation.
Since finishing high school, and after a brief stint at university studying computer science, Julian has worked for a variety of companies throughout Sydney, including several large legal firms and some of Sydney's most prestigious barrister's chambers. It is through this wide experience that Julian has gained his strong administrative and organisational skills.
Julian has a Greek background and although he doesn't speak fluently, he is currently learning and one day hopes to live in Greece, where he was born.

Translation Manager
NAATI accredited translator and interpreter (Chinese <--> English)
Roy Shen has been a NAATI accredited professional Chinese translator and interpreter for over 10 years and has considerable knowledge of the industry. With a BA degree in English literature, he has also trained in conference interpreting at the University of Western Sydney and has been a lecturer of interpreting at the Sydney Institute of Technology. Before joining Language Professionals' team he was based in Shanghai, China where he was a senior producer for a large television and internet company.

Mohamed studied translation at the American University in Cairo, architecture at Alexandria University and Installation Art at l’Atelier d’Alexandrie.
Before he joined Language Professionals’ team, Mohamed was senior editor at a subtitling company based in Cairo, Egypt, a large supplier for major companies in Europe and the USA. Mohamed’s knowledge of Arabic also helps with the formatting of other right-to-left languages like Dari or Pashto.
