New NAATI Certification System – Recertification Policy

New NAATI Certification System – Recertification Policy

NAATI has been conducting briefing sessions on the progress of the improvement to NAATI Testing (INT) Project. One of the topics that has emerged during feedback is the proposal for re-certification of ALL practitioners, including those who were awarded a NAATI accreditation before 2007 and for whom the requirement to revalidate has so far been optional.

The INT Project will establish a new system of certification for translators and interpreters across a number of levels and specialisations. Once the certification system is implemented the current system of accreditations and recognitions will cease.

NAATI expects that the industry standard will become certification. As we get closer to the implementation of the certification system, a process for transferring currently accredited and recognised practitioners will be established and information provided.

Current planning suggests the new certification system will start from January 2018.
